Self Care Sunday ~ My WHY

Screen Shot 2019-10-11 at 7.21.20 PM

I had a super crazy busy stressful intense work week. By Wednesday, I could feel it taking a toll. In the afternoon walked out into the hallway break room to get a bottle of water before a meeting. When I got back to my desk, I realized I lost my phone. Since I have an Apple Watch, I can tell when my phone is within range of my watch. When I got to the break room, I could see it was near by. So I pinged it. There was a guy I didn’t know standing on the other side of room. We were both confused because we could both hear it but not see it. Then he leaned over and put his ear close to the trash can and said, “OMG, it’s in here! You threw out your iPhone!”🤣As I pulled it out of the trash he said, “Man, I don’t think I even want to know what’s going on in your world today. You threw out your iPhone and didn’t even know it! ” 🤣 Yep, I threw out a $600 iPhone and didn’t even realize it; that is how preoccupied I was with this damn job.

i-am-wonder-woman-i-wonder-where-i-left-my-16014034
After spending a whole week working very closely with my Director to give presentations to her bosses and external stakeholders, she said to me on Thursday, “Every aspect of this is hard and complicated. We just have to remember the good you are doing for the industry in the long run!”😄 It was in that moment I remembered my professional “WHY”. The reason I took the job in the first place is that ten years down the road I will be able to look back at this time and say I played a role in changing the workforce in my industry. The new programs I am working to establish will develop and change workforce in my industry for the future. I am starting it. I’ve said since day one, I only want to make a meaningful contribution. I want to make a difference. God gave me what I asked for but he never said it would be easy 🤣 He also didn’t tell me I would throw away a $600 iPhone because I was so preoccupied by the damn job but he certainly gave me what I asked for. He gave me a way to make real difference not only in my organization, not just in my “company” but in the whole damn industry. God is good.

While the situation with the phone was funny and my coworkers were cracking up, the truth is…it worried me that I did it. It’s not the first time I’ve been so preoccupied that I did something stupid since starting this job. It was a wake up call for me. I need find a new way to manage the pressure and responsibilities of this job with some self awareness. I realized by late Thursday afternoon I needed a full and complete STOP. My schedule worked out that it gave me a four day weekend. After going through my emails and tasks, guess what, everything can wait four days. I am taking a break and completely disconnecting. Friday is my errand, shopping day. I spent today, Saturday, in Philly with my Mom and family.  My niece brought her pitbull over for a visit.  He’s ‘s 65lbs and sitting on my lap. I was covered in dog hair when I left.  I will most likely sleep in on Sunday and not sure after that. I would like to go hiking if the weather is cooperative and Monday I am hoping to have lunch with friends. If I am going to thrive in the next crazy year and maintain holistic wellness and balance, I am going to need to find chunks of time like this weekend to completely disconnect from work and focus on the other aspects of my life.  My job isn’t going to love and care for my body and my soul; that’s my job.

love job

One part of me wants to surrender and go back to an easy job.  That is my ego…My ego is being stripped down in this job because every day I have to swim a little harder, learn a little faster, make decisions without a lot of information and then go defend them 🤣 I am way outside of the comfort zone and operating on level higher than I ever imagined I would be operating when I accepted this job.  Thank God my brain is hardwired to be strategic and thank God I strengthened my intuition in recent years because so far, I’ve made good decisions. I also know my limit. I know when a decision is above me.  I am good about building relationships and I am inclusive. I look for the right folks to include or give counsel along the way. Seriously, I talk more in this job than I ever talked in any job. It’s exhausting🤣

One thing is for sure…the ego and emotions have no place in making strategic decisions that will affect my career in the long term. My ego wants to protect me. It wants me to keep doing what I am good at and what is easy with no room for failure but my soul knows I am where I am meant to be – success or failure – it will be my lesson. The key is for me to practice non-attachment to how I think it will play out and just do my best and let it unfold organically.  Whatever happens is for my highest good. Everything is always working out for my highest good even if it works out differently than I expected.

I also reconnected with personal WHY – GROWTH! I wanted potential for long term diversified growth opportunities in my future. I am in the right place for this now. Getting back to my WHY cleared up all the confusion and uncertainity I was having.

What’s your why

Every choice, every decision has a lesson in it. This one is teaching me patience. It’s also teaching me to TRUST to my intuition and use strategic thinking to evaluate choices instead of my ego. I can’t be reactive and emotional with this decision.

What’s You’re Why?  Have you reconnected with it recently?  Sit with yourself long enough to observe if your ego or emotions are driving your decisions. Can you practice non-attachment? Can you consider strategically aligning your choice with what you want in the future rather than reacting to the demands of your ego or attachments of your emotions? Seems to be working for me 😊✨  Ripped-paper-with-written-on-it-Whats-your-why--1024x683

I offer the below Loving Kindness Prayer for the Kurdish people in Syria and all American Armed Forces affected by the actions of POTUS.  He’s golfing while massacres are occurring.  He’s golfing while ISIS is being let free. He’s golfing while US forces are getting hit.  This scares me.  What will the retaliation be?  What demon has he unleashed into the world.  I hope he not only goes down but I hope every Republican supporting him and protecting him goes down with him.  Money and power should never come before human life.

Loving Kindness Prayer💙
May you be safe
May you be healthy
May you be happy
May you be loved

Everything is always working out for my highest good 💙🦋

Finding My Center

Quotes

The last year of my life has been about Finding my center again. It’s been about finding my most authetic self after all the superficial stuff fads away. In order to do this, I needed quiet, distance and time just move in my own rhythm. My focus has been on me…no one else. Things got hairy and a little scary at times 😂😂

Meme

Friday is the last day of my first week in my new job. This job brought me back to my professional “home”! I am in a new role but surrounded by familiar faces. There’s so much to learn and re-learn. I’ve been gone 14 months. Just enough time for me to be completely out of the organizational rhythm.

Just a couple of days in and I can say it’s the pace I really like. It’s the pace I missed for the last 14 months. There’s a different pace between a strategic group and a 24 hours operations group. While the slower pace was good at first because it was a break from the grind, the slow pace is one of things that bothered me most. I am an action person. I stay more engaged when I am in a steady flow of activity. My challenge will be to balance my activity so I don’t get burned out again. I need to remember to pull back and remind myself one very important question with each task, “Is this mine to worry about?” I was not always good at this in the past and took on things that really were not mine to worry about! I own that truth!

The nice thing this time around is I am focused on only one program/system area instead of being generalize and I am also not in a support role. Both were essential requirements for me to rejoin this group. It seems they found the perfect opportunity. Since it’s a new role, I will be involved in developing and maturing it. It is just the kind of challenge that motivates  me. I realized the other day the program I am now working on has 222 in its name. Hmm? 222 is my God Sign number; it’s my favorite number. Of course, that is not coincidence; it’s synchronicity. It’s Universal Flow.
222
One of my first observations is that it’s nice to be around so many folks who are so dedicated and focused on working towards a shared goal. In my last role, I was on my own a lot. It’s part of the reason I didn’t enjoy it. I am inspired by the work ethic of some of my coworkers; it helps me rise up and reach for better in myself. I am also happy they all agreed I can stay in the same cubicle – at least for now – we will see down the road. I like where I sit! It’s quiet and out of the spotlight 😂👌

So how did this happen? How did I end up working in group I thought I left? How did I end up turning down an opportunity I worked for a year to get? Well, these folks got their hooks into me two months ago and slowly reeled me in. Honestly, I seemed to bump into both of my bosses everywhere I went the last few weeks. They kept telling me it was sign 😂Maybe it was… It was annoying but it seemed to work 😂😂

I was so filled with stress and anxiety about making the right choice I couldn’t think clearly about it. I reached out to a friend for help in getting clarity. He asked one question. “Do you enjoy the work?” (I had been doing prior to making the move). After struggling to answer the question, I realized it was NO. No, I didn’t enjoy the work and admitting that felt like failure to me. Seems crazy but that’s why I did not want to admit it. You know you are growing when you can see your own crazy irrational thoughts and intuitively know it’s time to ask for help! I especially love that it was Blue Love who helped me get the clarity I needed to make this important choice 💙 I am growing and I aim to surround myself with folks who are willing to reconnect with their Center and grow too 😊

What’s My WHY

What’s My Why

As I sit in professional limbo, I know one thing is for sure…I refuse to make an ego-based or an emotional decision✊

The ego and emotions have no place in making a strategic decision that will affect my career in the long term. My ego would jump at a promotion as a trophy while my emotions would pull me back to my old group/job because they feel like home. The key is for me to practice non-attachment to any outcome as I explore options and let things play out a little bit longer. I just need to steady my nerves to do this 😂 Whatever is for my highest good will rise up in my soul once I detach my emotions and ego from decision making process. Everything is always working out for my highest good even if it works out differently than I expected.

Every conversation I’ve had about this just muddied the water for me even more. I was getting myself confused because I never been one to follow external guidance. I now trust my own inner guidance system more for decisions that affect my life. I was in information and emotional overload which was making the choice more complicated.

Feeling conflicted and confused, I jumped into a hot shower last night. As the hot water pounded on my tight neck & shoulder muscles, I asked myself “What’s My WHY?”

My WHY is GROWTH. Growth is my word! I want potential for long term diversified growth opportunities in my future. This decision isn’t just about what I want to do today; it’s about how I want to position myself for long term growth in the future. Getting back to my WHY cleared up all the confusion and uncertainity I was having. The choice became clear! By the end of the night, I was relaxed and felt like the heaviness lifted.

What’s your why

For now, I need to see how the ball I put into motion plays out first; they advised I they should have a decision within two weeks (if not sooner). There are variables at play and I still feel I did the right thing. I just need to wait and see how it plays out. I also have a preferred contingency plan in place. If that goes sideways too, I still have a job to go back to 😂 It’s all good! I am ok with whatever happens because I know I lived and acted in alignment with my truth and I did what is right for the program I am representing. Wherever I end up, is where I am meant to be 😊

Every choice, every decision has a lesson in it. This one is teaching me patience. It’s also teaching me to TRUST to my intuition and use strategic thinking to evaluate choices instead of my ego. I can’t be reactive and emotional with this decision.

After all of that, I slept great last night and had a visitation dream from my deceased sister. She always comes in my dreams when I need reassurance and comfort😇✌️

If you need to make a big decision in your life, try using strategic logic to help you make the decision. Sit with yourself long enough to observe if your ego or emotions are driving your decisions. Can you practice non-attachment? Can you consider strategically aligning your choice with what you want in the future rather than reacting to the demands of your ego or attachments of your emotions? Seems to be working for me 😊✨

PS: I am feeling like a Blue Love Poem is brewing… Stop back Friday for a Blue Love note💙😊✨

Self Care Sunday ~ Divine Timing

Pink Himalayan Salt Stone Massage

Self Care has been focused this week on taming stress, anxiety and tension. I celebrated Friday night happy hour at my Chiropractor’s office with an adjustment and a Pink Himalayan Salt Stone Massage. I needed to get tension and stress out of my neck and shoulder muscles. It felt like I was carrying the weight of the world on me and I needed to unload.

Friday quotes

I’ve been seeing the same Massage Therapist for two years. She is also an esthetician and shares an office with my Chiropractor. I grew up with family member owing a day spa so I’ve been on massage tables since I was high school. In my younger years, I would just go about anywhere for a Massage without realizing that receiving a massage is an exchange of energy. It’s essential to be sure the person who is massage your body has good positive energy 💚 In the past, I’ve traveled to spas and getaway weekends with girls friends to get massages and facials. I don’t do that anymore. I prefer to stay with the massage therapist that I know, trust and call a friend. Her style is very nurturing and her energy is balanced and amazing. She is very caring and respectful when she massages my body. I find that comforting and trust-worthy. She knows my body. She understand my concerns. She respects my wishes. When I am laying naked on her table, I am safe. That says a lot. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars in the past at spas for the “spa” experience only to find comfort, safety and trust right in my Chiropractor’s office 15 minutes from home. I now see her every two months for Pink Himalayan Salt Stone Massages which helps with neck and shoulder tension. My TMJ has been way more manageable since I started doing this. It feels good to know I can trust her and totally relax while I am on her table.

Pink Himalayan Salt Benefits

For those not familiar but curious about Pink Himalayan Salt Stone massage, here’s what happens…My therapist heats the stones and dips them in Lavendar infused Coconut Oil before running the stones along muscles in all areas of the body. Her style integrates philosophies of Eastern medicine, Lomi Lomi, Shiatsu, Swedish massage, thermal therapy and salt therapies to create an array of possible benefits: Increase blood circulation, Reduce inflammation, Improve sleep, Induce deep relaxation and Improves overall sense of well-being – plus the hot stones feel amazing and really get the knots out! After the massage I had sushi for dinner and slept great on Friday night. I am always a little tired and very relaxed the day after a massage. I pushed through it Saturday morning and knocked stuff off the “to do” list early in the morning. I felt my body slowing down around noon and decided to retreat to the coziness of my bed Saturday afternoon with my iPad to write this blog post. I love my bedroom. It really is beautiful and comfy 🙂

Bed

I also bought a new book on Leadership by General Stanley McCrystal. I prefer to hold a real book in my hands than read on my Kindle so I bought the hard cover book. The brightness of the reading on the Kindle bothers my eyes when I read at night. General McCrystal asserts you don’t need to take Leadership training to be a Leader! I’m a couple of chapters in and I am enjoying it. It’s making me think. It’s not only an exploration of leadership styles, successes and failures it’s also chuck full of history. I’m learning stuff 😂 It’s a thick book so I will probably be reading this all week plus I need to think about stuff after I read it to absorb it 😊Since I plan to take an Executive Coaching course sometime in the future so I can add that service to my Coaching services, I like to read books on Leadership. It also helps me in my full time job too.

Leadership Books: General McCrystal

I trust my body when it tells me it needs comfort and rest. I listen when it tells me it needs to be still instead of “do”. I am going to Philly for the day on Sunday and know I will be driving a lot tomorrow so I am enjoying some downtime before a busy day tomorrow.

I am still in a transition at work. After I rejected an offer last week, my acting Director asked me to give her a little time to strategize an alternative. I was told the other day, they are indeed looking at alternatives for me so the deal isn’t dead yet 🙂 Here’s the thing, I TRUST this Acting Director that I’ve only known for a year — more than I ever trusted other managers I’ve known for ten years. I do truly believe she is on my side but I also know she will do what is best and most ethical for business. I respect that. I can’t ask for more from her. This situation is requiring me to be really patient. It’s hard not knowing how something is going to work out. I second guessed my decision a little earlier in the week until I remembered I knew in my heart and in my gut the job I rejected, the way it was structured, was not right for me. I trusted my intuition and I still feel good about that decision. I see now it’s not really about WHO I work for. I would be fine working in either organization. My intuition has been telling me this transition is about ensuring I am doing work that I find satisfying and fulfilling. It is also about ensuring I am fairly compensated for my level of responsibility and skills. I am TRUSTING my intuition on this one.

My lesson this week has been to TRUST the Universe and believe in Divine Timing. Divine Timing is the spiritual concept that things happen when they are meant to happen. You can’t rush something. Things happen in a sequence for a divine purpose.

I’ve been using these affirmations to keep my thoughts positive.
✨ I trust everything is always working out for my highest good.
✨ I trust my intuition
✨ I trust my body’s wisdom
✨ I have complete trust and faith in the Universe

Divine Timing

ACTION:
The Action for this week is to simply trust and have faith on the Divine Timing in your life. Work on trusting your own intuition. Practice patience and have faith. Consider using affirmations throughout the day to stay positive. You can use the affirmations I list above if you like, or make one for yourself. Remember…Affirmations are positive in nature; they affirm that something is true.

Diving Timing quote

As Always – I will be including the Loving Kindness Prayer on every post going forward because I believe love can and will triump over evil. Light will prevail over darkness. I believe we need to put LOVE into the Universe. Love each other…

Remember to put a little love in the world by saying the Loving Kindness Prayer for someone special. I often like to say it for special people in my life as well for groups such as my family, friends, coworkers and all beings.

Loving Kindness Prayer💙
May you be safe
May you be healthy

Self Care Sunday – Are You In The Arena?

Theodore Roosevelt quote

I am a lifelong learner. I am intellectually curious. I crave knowledge. I consider myself a student of life. I am a risk taker. As Theodore Roosevelt says, “I am in the arena”; I show up in life.

Self Care for me includes personal growth, professional development, self exploration and learning from every person I meet. Every situation I am in presents me an opportunity for deeper self awareness and knowledge. Since I am an eager “student”, I am always looking for online courses to take, lectures to attend, mentors to work with and books to read. If you’ve got something to teach me, I am willing to learn from you.

A few years ago, my boss at the time recommended I read “Your Intention Difference” by Ken Tucker, Todd Hahn and Shane Roberson. In the book, you work through exercises that help to identify reoccurring themes in your life and then associated that theme with one word. That word becomes your ID Word and represents the dominant theme in your life or it’s your Intentional Difference. My ID Word is growth. It was really enlightening to read this book and see this in myself. While I always knew I was growth oriented, I never really thought about making decisions so I intentionally put myself in situation where I could grow; it just happened. That’s an amazing piece of self awareness that has changed my life. Since reading that book, I now intentionally make choices that honor my need for growth in all areas of my life.

I changed a lot in the last few years. I’ve changed because I intentionally focused on putting myself in situations where I would have room to grow and stretch; I put myself in situation that honored the truth of who I am. For example, I returned to school to become an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach in 2017; I wanted to learn how to take better care of myself. When I interviewed for my current job, the interview panel asked “Why are you interested in this job?” I said, “Because GROWTH is my ID Word and this seems like the perfect opportunity to stretch and grow”.

Having a growth mind-set and being willing to learn from everyone has been very beneficial in my life, especially in my career. As I’ve been exposed to different people and situations, I’ve been able to learn from each person I encountered then use that knowledge in work situations. For example, a few years ago a coworker was working on redesigning websites in SharePoint. I had no idea how to use SharePoint let alone build a website it in but she needed help and was willing to teach me. I became her student and learned everything she was willing to teach me. In the last few weeks, I’ve been building a website in SharePoint using the skills she taught me. I sent the development site to a few managers for a concept review.

OH MY GOD! So much positive feedback; it blew me away. They didn’t know I could design websites and I didn’t know they need someone who understands SharePoint. My stock went up again this week😂 I am finishing the design and development in the next week or so. I demo it for our “Big Cheese” in early November and then I’ll start socializing it in staff meetings and webinars through the end of the year.

Professionally, growth and development will be my main concern as my temporary assignment at work starts to wrap up in the coming months. I am reminding myself “GROWTH” is my ID Word. I will be evaluating my professional options according to my need for growth and development. I am cautiously optimistic that my current organization is working to find a way for me to stay permanently. Things take a long time where I work so I am still waiting on the dust to settle but we have time to work thing out. The bottom line is I believe there is more room for me to stretch and grow in this organization than the one I worked in formerly but I am trying to keep my mind open. For now, I will pray God puts me where he needs me the most and I pray I am in a position where I can do the most good. I will trust everything is always working out for my highest good.

Since I deactivated Facebook 26 days ago and I have been been limiting my Twitter time, I’ve been reading more. I am now reading “Dare To Lead” from Brene Brown. I’ve read a couple of her books already and I just love her style. I love the way she talks about vulnerability and shame. I especially love how this book reflects on how leaders who are empathetic and vulnerable are actually the strongest. It’s a great read for anyone –especially leaders. If you don’t like to read, it’s also available as an audiobook.

Dare To Lead

Lastly, I suppose worrying about my stomach biopsy & the appointment at Jeff Gastro took it’s toll me the last few days. A mother of migraine hit me early Thursday morning. While I went to work on Thursday, I was in a lot of pain by the time I got home. I took the meds but it was past the point of return. I vomited all Thursday night from and pain and have been taking the meds every six hours which means I haven’t been able to leave the house or drive because they make me sleepy. I guess it’s not all bad. I’ve been enjoying reading and enjoying the rest. It finally broke Saturday afternoon.

My question this Self Care Sunday is are you in the arena or sitting on the sidelines?

I am in the arena. I like being vulnerable and taking risks. As Brene says, “If you are not also in the arena getting your ass kicked, I am NOT interested in your feedback! If you are in the arena getting your ass kicked, I am open to your feedback and insights!”

Self Care Sunday – Looking Out For Yourself And Others

Art

It’s Self Care Sunday. How have you taken care of yourself this week? Have you moved your body physically and made it stronger? Have you enforced and maintained boundaries in your relationships? Have you protected your spiritual alignment by choosing to be with folks who are good for you? Have you taken advantage of opportunities in your career to set yourself up for future? Or did you slow down and allow yourself a day to rest your body and mind? I did all of these things this week.

God proved to me this morning he puts you exactly where you need to be. It’s up to us to be awareness and alignment so we can see when he is asking us to take action. I was walking early this morning. I walked a different route than I normally do today when a frantic elderly Indian woman came up to me. She was sweating, panicked, holding an umbrella and her purse. She handed me her cell phone and phone book. I couldn’t understand much of what she was saying but I could tell she wanted me to talk to someone on the phone. After hesitating for a moment, I took the phone and said hello. The guy on the other end told me she got lost because she got of the Jitney bus at the wrong street. He asked me to point her in the direction of his home which was about three blocks from where we were. She was panicked. It’s really hot today and I was bit worried about her. After I hung up, I decided to turn around and walk her to her at least to the street her Son lived on. When she saw his house, she must have said thank you to me over a hundred times. Honestly, I couldn’t understand anything else she was saying to me. She hugged me and was smiling ear to ear. The amount of relief, happiness and peace I could see in her face made it totally worth me turning around and escorting her so she didn’t get lost again. I am sharing this story just to encourage folks to look out for each other. Use your instincts and intuition. You don’t always need to understand someone’s words to know when they are in distress. After doing a quick assessment of the situation, I trusted my intuition and knew God was asking me to her. I said, “YES”!

I had my last PT appointment on my SI Joint, IT Band and foot earlier this week. The therapist and I agreed it is not healed yet. I am not ready for yoga yet. However, my work schedule and travel schedule has my calendar screwed up. My therapist worked my leg pretty hard and gave me the home exercises to do in the gym. I am trying this for a month to see if I can strengthen it on my own. With that said, I don’t usually go to the gym on Sundays. Since I was down for the count Friday night and Saturday with a migraine, I went to the gym today and walked three miles today to get back on schedule. I am committed to getting back to yoga and making my body stronger. On another note, I wore my highest high heels for the first time since rolling my ankle & breaking my foot. It was time to get back on the horse and wear high heels again😊I wore high platform sandals. I will say I was a little nervous & extremely careful 😂 I was ok👍

In recent weeks, two men from my past have been in my experience. One has been trying to re-establish contact and I ran into the other one at the grocery store; I completely ignored him. I am writing about this here just in case either one of them (older or younger guy) is reading my blog. I want to make things crystal clear without having any direct contact with either one of them. There is nothing here for either one of them. NOTHING! I am not interested in reengaging with either one of them and I have no feelings for either one of them. Let’s just leave things in the past where they belong. Those relationships were not good for me back then and I am not interested in revisiting them now. I wish both men well. I have no hard feelings. The point of me writing this is to say I actually have no feelings – at all – for either one. Again, I am only putting this on my blog in this post just in case one of them, younger or older guy) is reading my blog. The Blue Love poetry collection is not written for either one of them. Neither one of them is the inspiration for my poetry. It’s really that simple. Blue Love is a man who is good for me. My connection with him is healthy. He’s taught me how a man should treat a woman. While he desires me, he also respects me. Whatever happens in our future, he helped me grow. He helped me see I deserve better than what I accepted in the past. So, I am enforcing boundaries and not allowing men from my past who were not good for me to return into my life. Once again, I am thankful to Blue Love for looking at me with the beautiful blue eyes of love and helping me to know I deserve better. Thank You Blue Love.

I woke up at 2:00am on Friday morning with a migraine. When I get migraines, they usually start in the middle of night. I have medication. I usually get up, take the meds and go back to bed for a couple of hours. Usually by the time I wake up, it’s gone. This one wasn’t. While I was functional on Friday, I was still in pain. I came home around 4pm and gave into the headache. I knew it was going to take a few cycles of meds for it to go away. I pulled the shades, curled up in bed, watched tv and slept most of Saturday. The headache was gone when I woke up this morning. I think the headaches are prompted by jaw tightness and TMJ. My jaw was popping a lot last week and I was eating chewy stuff more than I should. Instead of pushing through it, I surrendered yesterday and rested. I allowed my mind and body to slow down. I took care of myself.

Sometimes self care is more tactical; it’s about actually physically taking care of yourself. Other times it’s more about enforcing boundaries. For me, it’s also been about learning I deserve better than I what I accepted and expected in the past. I am happy where I am now. I am happy with how I have grown and woman I have become in recent years. Folks who knew me seven, ten or fifteen years ago, really don’t know me at all anymore.  I am also eagerly looking forward to more – so much more in the future. I am looking forward to surrounding myself with people who are good for me like Blue Love. I am thankful and grateful for all of my blessings. I am happy for the love in my heart and good the people kind souls who are in my life.  I am happy and grateful.

Eye Of The Soul – Poetry

Eye Of The Soul Watercolor by Linda Long

Eye Of The Soul – Poetry
By: Linda A. Long

Looking within
My soul
I found you
Standing there
As if you were
Waiting for me
Waiting for me
To see you
I wandered away
From you
I was complacent
And eventually
Lost touch
With the fabric
Of my own soul
I heard the whispers
From inside
I just wasn’t ready
To listen
I saw
The truth
Behind the lie
I was living
Every day
I knew
I sold my soul
For a paycheck
And security
I walked around
For while
In complete
Brutal consciousness
Of what I lost
And what
I was becoming
But I was afraid
Afraid to let go
The grass
Isn’t always greener
I made
One excuse
After another
Until my body
Broken down
As if throwing
The gauntlet down
In front of my soul
Forcing me
To rise over the fear
Making me see
My body wasn’t
Breaking down
Out disease or illness
It was breaking
Down
Because my mind
Body and spirit
Were no longer
In harmony
The negative chaotic
Energy that surrounded
Me daily
Caused me constant
Agitation
The overwhelming
Negative chaotic
Energy in my work
Environment was
Holistically unhealthy
For me
But I was still
Still unsure
Of my next steps
And then
One day
It was clear
I gathered my courage
From my blue eyed
Inspiration
I took a deep breath
And
Jumped into
The eye of my soul
I started to see
Things clearly
I started to understand
That this
Opportunity was special
Created just for me
And if I wasn’t open
To receiving it
I may never
Get another one
And over time
Every obstacle
Was eliminated
And I flowed
Effortlessly
Towards my soul’s
Calling
Unsure where
This will take me
I surrender to the
Creation process
And live
Live my life
From the
Eye of my soul
Seeing life
Living life
As my soul
Directs me
I am finally free
I am free
I live my life
Through the
Eye of my soul
I am finally free

NOTE After my first week in my new job, I can say for sure my new work environment will be holsitically healthier for me than the one I left. I am highly motivated to make my Program a success so I can stay with this new group 🙂

I am sensitive. I’ve always been sensitive to noise, people’s emotions and especially energy. Lately, especially the last year, my sensitives have grown with my intuition. Honestly, The collective energy of the group/work environment I left shifted and it is NOT balanced or stable. It feels too chaotic. It’s in constant motion and that is not healthy for an organziation. My new work environment is calmer, healthier and quite honestly people do not have as much access to me in this new role. Also, I am vision setter in this new role. I have an opportunity to really do something amazing in the “company”.

As I reflect on how I got here, I am grateful for inspiration and courage I got from Bluelove to step out of the comfort zone and pursue this opportunity. I feel like I am finally working in alignment with my soul💙🦋 I am finally seeing life through the eye of my soul. For me, it was learning about Integrative Nutrition Primary Foods that helped me make the connection.

I took my third test at IIN today and passed. We are moving into our last Quarter in school. Most of the nutritional education is over and we are now focusing on Primary Food, coaching skills and business development. Since I do already have a full time job, I plan to only do coaching as my part time job. I also decided to focus my coaching on Primary Foods, Life Coaching and Holistic Wellness instead of nutrition(diet) health counseling. The coaching skills I am learning are actually going to help me at my full time job too 🙂 I am looking forward to graduation in May. It will be nice to be done school and get that off my plate.

Writing Poetry Is My Soul Food – Health Coaching

Mermaid Ocean Heart Love Bluelove Are you in touch with your soul? Can you hear it when it tries to talk to you? Do you recognize the voice within you urging to care for yourself on a deeper level?

For me, the voice of my soul often expresses itself through the written word. I write… I write because my soul needs me to write. My soul especially loves to express itself through poetry. I have been writing poetry since I was 15 years old. It is very soothing me to write my thoughts and feelings out in free verse.

Love poetry, especially, is my passion. Nothing inspires me to write more than feeling a deep connection to a man. Over the course of the last 35 years of my life, I have written poetry for a few men but none have compared to the depth and breadth of my Bluelove collection. In writing poetry for Bluelove, I truly found my voice as poet and as a woman. By writing poetry for Bluelove, I learned about myself and deepen my ability to love without conditions or expectation. By writing for him I have deepen my connection to my own soul and honed my craft of the written word.

Writing poetry is a spiritual practice for me. It provides me nourishment on a soul level. To connect this post back to Holistic Health Coaching, writing poetry for me is a mind, body, spiritual practice that balances and nourishes me holistically. According to Integrative Nutrition’s principles writing poetry nourishes me in my Primary Food area of Spirituality.

Writing poetry is only one of the ways I connect with my spirit. I also meditate, pray, practice yoga, chant mantras and paint watercolors.

How do you feed your and nourish your spirituality?

Below is a new a poem I wrote for the Bluelove Collection:

My Blessing – Love, Sex & Poetry
By: Linda A. Long

As we
Move through
This world
In different directions
Each walking
Different paths
Towards our
Highest good
I call on God
And our Guides
To strengthen us
By reassuring
That the depth
Of our spiritual bond
Will keep us connected
I have faith
That our connection
Is not defined
By the closeness
Of our proximity
Instead
It is defined
By bond of our souls
As much I
Want to look
Into your beautiful
Blue eyes
Every day
For the rest of my life
I am also aware
There is something
Happening now
Right now for
Both of us
We are both
Refining ourselves
Stretching into new skin
Transforming our souls
Striving for our best
And highest good
Perhaps
During this time
Of self-expression and growth
We need to
Walk the path
Physical alone
While still
Knowing our
Soul Connection
Our spiritual connection
Is unbreakable
It was today
I felt
I needed to
Remind you
My Bluelove
You are never far
From me
Our connection
Does not require
Your presence
For me to feel you
Our souls
Recognized each other
Before our eyes
Ever saw
The depth of
Sexual lust and desire
We have shared
Over the last five years
As we move
With the wind
Of change
Carry me close to your heart
I am not looking
To leave you
I am only
Looking to
Find a part of myself
I lost a long time
Ago when I settled
For contentment
And played smaller
Than my capabilities
In these years
Of living a life
Less than the one
I am capable
Of Living
I lost the person
I was born to be
The natural risk taker
The girl with moxie
The unhappiness
Of living without
Authenticity pushed
So hard against my spirit
It almost broke me
But it most certainly
Was never about you
You are
One of my blessings
Our connection
Nurtured and fed
My Soul
Until love
Bluelove
Blossomed in my heart
You spark my sexuality
And
Inspire my poetry
You helped me
Grow into a
A stronger braver woman
Who had the courage to
Pursue the call
Of her soul
While my body
Misses the
Energy of lust
You being near
To me stirs
Between my legs
I take comfort
In the knowledge
That our connection
Is strong and
Resilent
It’s capable of
Withstanding change
And distance
It can grow and evolve
With us
And make us stronger
Together instead
Of break us apart
Take comfort
My love
You are still my
Bluelove
And I still
Carry you
In my heart

I Am Out Of The Comfort Zone

Comfort zone art

In May 2017 I enrolled in the Institute Of Integrative Nutrition(IIN) online Health Coach course after search on what is health coach on health coaching websites. I did it because I was having health problems and felt I was not managing them properly. I enrolled in the course to learn how to take better care of myself overall. I also wanted to learn how to care for myself holistically by looking at my mind, body and spirit as one unit. Over the last seven months I’ve learned how to eat better as well as pay attention to food labels, food shop better and eat cleaner. I’ve also stopped eating Dairy back in June. I only eat it as treat on cheat days. Since January 2017 I’ve lost 20 pounds.

Something else happened since starting IIN in May. Something so much more important and profound happened to me spiritually. Over these last seven months, I started really looking at my life and asking myself “Am I fulfilled?” IIN teaches about Primary Food. IIN refers to Exercise, Spirituality, Relationships and Career as our Primary Food. In other words, we gain nourishment by finding fulfillment and happiness in those four non-food primary areas of our lives.

It was around the end of the summer that I started to break down those four areas of Primary Food and really look that them in the context of the question, “Am I fulfilled?”. That’s when I realized I wasn’t fulfilled in Relationships and Career. The relationship area of my life is complicated. I have a lot loss and heartbreak in my past. My lack of fulfillment was because I closed myself off from people family and friends who wanted to have a place in my life. I withdrew and disengaged out of fear of loss. In some cases I was feeling like I needed more than some individuals could offer me. The relationship area of my life is complicated. It’s going to take time for me work through things that have come up but at least I allowed myself to see it. I allowed myself to open up and see what was hurting me. I am working on healing those parts of my soul.

While I started working on the relationships area of my life, I was also becoming uncomfortable at work. That uneasy feeling was creeping in. There was a lot of change, constant chaos and churn in work. My jaw started to lock up from stress until it was so clenched and painful I could barely open my mouth. I had to take a week off from work and worked from home for week to allow my jaw to rest. While I was home, I was asking myself the question every day, “Am I fulfilled?” The answer was, “No, I am not fulfilled?” But, I felt I couldn’t leave. I am loyal and felt I had to stay. Well, that was my excuse anyway…

I told myself I would not look for a job and that things would get better. I remember saying to my Mom, “I don’t feel like looking for a new job but if a new opportunity manifests on it’s own, I would pursue it.” The very next day my new opportunity was waiting for me in my inbox. I love when the Universe answers the call that quick. Within a few days I approached my new manager and asked him I could take a one year assignment outside of our organization. Not a easy thing to ask and he was certainly in a tough spot. But, he said yes because he believed it was the right thing to do.

So, I decided to leave a group I worked in for the last ten years and following my soul’s calling towards work I hope will be more fulfilling. Today was my last day. I am nervous. I am scared. I am excited. I am proud of myself for having the courage to step outside of the comfort zone. I am proud of myself for following the signs the Universe was giving me. I am a whole mixture of emotions today. I am trusting that I am being lead to another step on the road to my highest good and I am letting go of being comfortable.

When I started school back in May to learn how to eat better and how to take better care of myself, I never thought it would lead to me changing jobs. My first day in my new job is Monday. Well, honestly, Monday is my official first day but it’s also kind of a transition day so probably my real first day is Tuesday. I will be writing about this exciting journey I am on over the next year. Please read along and see what happens as I start exploring life outside of comfort zone.

I ask you today, “Are you fulfilled in your Primary Foods?” If you would like to learn more about Primary Foods or would like to schedule a 30 minutes consultation to explore if my health coaching services would be of benefit to you, I invite you to either visit the Coaching Services page of this website and or contact me directly at:

I Am ~ Love, Sex And Poetry

I Am ~ Love, Sex And Poetry
Love, Sex And Poetry

I am
Love
I am the love
That surrounds
Your heart
In white protective light
Warming you with
The rays
Of the sun’s love
Beaming with
Joy and compassion
I am
Courage
I am the courage
Speaking bravery
Into your
Beautiful soul
Showing the
True warrior
That lives within you
Calling to your
Most high self
To affirm
Your heart’s intention
And honor
Your soul’s calling
I am
I am the path
Of highest good
Laid before you
Showing you
The best
That you can be
Asking you
To trust
The love
That is given
And honor
The craving
Of your soul
Instead of your ego
I am
I am eternal love
My love
Remains true
And steady
It hasn’t wavered
In absence
But grown
In the fire
And heat
Of our
Joined minds
And power
Of conscious creation
I am
Made
I am made from love
My eyes glisten
Affection
Into yours
My lips
Breathe passion
Into your heart
My breasts rise
In arousal
As your energy
Approaches mine
My hips relax
And open
Waiting for you
To press
Between them
And finally
Find peace
I am
Unconditional love
I am the
Unconditional love
That loves you
Without expectations
Or attachments
I am the
Unconditional love
That wants
The best and highest good
For both of us
I am the
Unconditional love
That respects your free will
To choose your life
But holds a space
For you
A Loving nurturing space
For you
In my heart
I am your
Unconditional love
You are
Loved Unconditionally

Life Is Best When Lived Passionately

NOTE

One of the underpining of my Integrative Nutrition coursework is that holistic nutrition in one’s life comes from having balance and fulfilment in the Primary areas of life such as career, exercise, spirituality and relationships. I realized earlier this week that I was devoting so much time to my full time job & school work (tasks) that I was starting to feel unbalanced in my life. I knew it was time for me to pull back a bit and rebalance myself.

I slept 12 hours last night 😴 I was exhausted on many levels. I am an early riser so I was shocked when I woke up at 9am. I found out by 9:30am that my afternoon commitment was reschedule for tomorrow. This presented me with an opportunity to completely focus on nurturing myself all day and do things that nourish my mind, body and soul.

I walked down to the local breakfast hangout where everyone knows my name 😂I sat at the counter and enjoyed my breakfast while chatting with some locals and the servers who have become friends. I walked five miles on the boardwalk and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. I bought all of my organic vegetables which I will cook tomorrow. I came home read my new book for two hours. I did a slow yoga practice focusing on my breath. I prayed, chanted mantras and meditated in silience. As I stood up from meditation the above poem was pushing against my heart and Blue Love came to mind. I curled up under the blanket and wrote the poem. I will finish my rebalance day with some more reading, Game Of Thrones from last Sunday and maybe a movie. Hopefully, I will sleep another 12 hours tonight 😂Tomorrow will be a busy day. I have school work and couple of school related phone calls plus cooking and laundry to tackle. But today – today is about doing things I enjoy and rebalancing my life…

What a beautiful day it has been 🙌🙏🦋It would have been absolutely spectacular if BlueLove was here in bed with me today 😉💙🦋💋

I am very grateful for this beautiful time of my life 🦋
